Classic Rolls Royce Cars
Rolls Royce was established in the late 1800s and started manufacturing cars in the early 1900s. The company has one of the best known names in car manufacturing and has produced a range of luxury classic cars that are still part of many car collections today.
The first cars produced by the company in the early 1900s included the 10hp, the 15hp, the 30hp and the V-8. Less than 20 10hp cars were made by the factory and it is thought that less than five of these models (which sell for millions) are still in existence today. Limited examples of these other early cars are still around although it is thought that there is no V-8 in existence now.
By 1906 the first major classic name produced by Rolls Royce appeared, the Silver Ghost. The 1920s also saw a range of classic names and models come to market including the Twenty and the Phantom followed by the Wraith in the 1930s.
During the 1940s and 1950s production was affected by the war as with many British car manufacturers but collectors still rate the Silver Wraith and the Silver Dawn that were manufactured in this period. The world famous Silver Cloud was also first brought to market in the 1950s and the Silver Shadow in the 1960s.
