Classic Cars
The exact meaning of a classic car can vary from country to country. In most cases it is used to describe a car that is of a certain vintage or age although the term can also be used to describe modern day cars of high value that were produced as a limited or special edition or that are rarely found any more.
So, for example, HM Revenue and Customs might define a classic car as a model that is more than 15 years old and that is worth over a certain amount of money. Car taxation issues, however, may qualify a classic car as one that was built before 1973 as a 'historic' car. On the other hand many classic car clubs will not accept any car that was built after the 1940s as a classic car. But, as mentioned, many collectors will view modern day limited or special editions or cars that are no longer in production as classics as well.
There are all kinds of car manufacturers who are considered by many to have produced classic cars. These include:
- Alfa Romeo
- Bentley
- Buick
- BMW
- Cadillac
- Citroen
- Duesenberg
- Ferrari
- Fiat
- Ford
- Jaguar
- Mercedes
- MG
- Morgan
- Porsche
- Ram
- Rolls Royce
- Rover
- Triumph
- Volkswagen
