Classic Bentley Cars

Bentley has been manufacturing cars since the 1920s, many of which have become classics. In this decade, for example, the manufacturer designed the famous EXP1 followed by other successes such as the Six Speed Racer. However, in 1929, Bentley went to the wall in the Great Depression until it was purchased by Rolls Royce a few years later.

During the 1930s and 1940s Bentley brought out the world famous Silent Sports Car and work started on the soon to be coveted Continental model. In the meantime the Mark VI was launched. By the 1950s the launch of the R-Type was to herald the eventual release of the R-Type Continental which was, at the time, the fastest four seater car in the world.

At this point many Bentley enthusiasts felt that the cars being produced now by the company - including the S and T series - were basically glorified Rolls Royces rather than true Bentleys. The tide turned again in the 1980s with the production of classics such as the Mulsanne, the Mulsanne Turbo, the Bentley Eight and the Turbo R.

Modern day Bentley classics include the Continental R and the Bentley Brooklands both of which were released in the 1990s.
